To conclude coverage of world mythology, students learned about different types of monsters and creatures in various cultures and created their own monster by combining elements of ones we had discussed.

What Makes a Hero?

As part of a discussion around Tom Rinaldi's The Red Bandanna, English 10 students created digital collages of their definition of a hero that did not include the words strength or bravery.

Utopian & Dystopian Vocabulary

To introduce vocabulary associated with dystopian literature, students developed a word web illustrating the connections between terms and definitions.

Sports Journalism

Sports Literature students studied types of sports journalism and created a series of articles around the NCAA's March Madness tournament, including game previews and recaps, as well as commentary and opinion pieces.

Spooky Found Poems

English 9 students celebrated Halloween with spooky stories, poetry, and a little arts and crafts as part of a study of poetic elements and figurative language.

Activity:

Greek Mythology Social Media Project

As an introduction to Greek mythology, students were asked to create social media personas for Greek gods and goddesses. Students used information provided in class to select their god or goddess and conducted online research to gather details to develop their modernized version.
